Why do I get so nervous before the swim start?

Swimming remains the #1 barrier to entry into the sport of triathlon. Even if you've been calling yourself a "triathlete" for a while, the amount of anxiety in the air surrounding a swim start can be palpable. Although stress is a natural part of racing, it doesn't need to cost you time or energy. Blueshift Multisport coaches can help you move beyond surviving to actually THRIVING in the pool and open water to bring out your peak performance.

How do I take my swim training to the next level?

Through carefully selected drills, test sets, and progressive workouts, we'll build up your comfort and feel for the water. You'll learn proper pacing, technique, and the secret language of swim workout abbreviations. We also cover the differences that matter when moving from the pool to the open water, such as increasing stroke rate and shortening up at the catch.

Field tests range from 100 to 1000 meters, and perhaps as long as 3000 meters for iron-distance athletes. Using established performance curves, we'll set up your swim pace zones so that you become much more than a 1-speed swimmer. Your training is designed to supply a mix of aerobic conditioning and threshold tolerance, as well as impart skills such as alternate-side breathing and the development of the non-freestyle strokes.
